Complex specifications and endless price talks
Manufacturers working with highly specialized materials such as optical components, lasers and optical fiber spend a great deal of time and people on complex specification talks and repeated price negotiations. Small and mid-sized manufacturers have less purchasing power than large companies and rely on manual work, which makes cost competitiveness hard to achieve.
A negotiation agent that sets target prices from past deals
- Demonstrated automated raw-material purchase negotiation to photonics manufacturers at Photonics Korea 2025 in Gwangju.
- The agent proposes optimal prices from past deal data and compares live market prices and each supplier's terms.
- This extended the B2B negotiation solution, previously focused on retail and logistics, to raw-material purchasing in manufacturing.
What changed
- Participating manufacturers saw the AI's ability to suggest the best time to buy and a negotiation strategy from past data as a practical way to strengthen the purchasing of smaller manufacturers.
- The plan is to offer it as a subscription (SaaS) so smaller manufacturers can adopt it easily.
